At Lamb Painting we are proud to be the only Painting & Decorating Contractors of America accredited contractor in the Northern Hills. The PDCA is a national organization that provides its members with a code of ethics, continual education on new products and equipment, and training on how to run a professional painting and decorating business. If you are interested in learning more about the PDCA, you can follow this link to their website. In order to be accredited with the PDCA there are certain requirements that we must meet. One of these requirements is that we must be licensed and insured in the area that we operate in. This is a major benefit to our customers because our employees are insured on the customer’s property. Another requirement is that our business has to have a five year business plan. This summer we are taking a course that will help us update our business plan and control map out our future. Although it is a lot of work to create or update this document, we are happy to do it so we can continue being on the cutting edge of the PDCA accredited contractors!

When looking at our future, we see that technology will be a big part of drawing our customers in. Our plans for the rest of the summer is to finish our accreditation requirements, step up our online presence, and continue to provide our customers with quality work that they can take pride in!

Lamb Painting: A Lead Paint Certified Contractor

Miscarriages, premature births, brain damage, and low birth weight can be caused by pregnant women coming into contact with lead paint. Children under the age of six are at the highest risk. Lead paint can cause speech, language, and behavior problems, attention deficit disorder, nervous system damage, decreased intelligence, learning disabilities, and kidney damage.

Now that you know the problem it is just as important that you know the solution. Lamb Painting is certified to test your home or property for lead paint and make your home or property safe for the people who come into contact with it. We have made the investment of sending our crew leaders to special training to guarantee our ability to protect our clients and employees. To make your home safe we follow procedures specified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA procedures ensure that lead contamination does not spread, is properly disposed of, and properly contained for your safety.

Historic Home Preservation at the D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery

D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery has recently released their Fall edition of the Hatchery Happening. It discusses their summer projects that were done in ‘09. Lamb Painting helped paint two of the historical homes on the property.

Key to a Good Paint Job: Prep Work

Prep work is often the less thought about part of painting. However, prep work is the most essential part to a great paint job. Many contractors or do-it yourselves don’t do the proper amount of prep work. There are three main parts to a paint job:

Sanding - There are three reasons why you need to sand: Strip a surface, Smooth a surface and to scuff a previously coated surface.
Primer - Applying a good coat of primer will result in a good paint job.
Masking - Taking the time to mask and cover things up will help keep your home clean. Paint can be messy and be a hassle to clean up.

A professional painter will be able to identify the proper procedures for each individual project. We take ownership in every project.
